About This Item
1898 hardcover as pictured. Please note that this is not a recent reprint. It is a nicely made original in quite good condition given its age. A first person account of the Civil War by John V. Hadley of the 7th Indiana Infantry regiment who, with three others, escaped from a Confederate prison and made his way to freedom. Charles Frazier acknowledged use of this book in researching his novel, "Cold Mountain". Binding is firm. Tan buckram boards with green stamping are rubbed and lightly soiled. Spine is tanned and has permanent marker printing at base. Ink notation and small stain on front endpapers. Rough cut text is lightly tanned but appears otherwise clean and unmarked. No dust jacket.
