The author provides short biographies of Wright and the original owners of the house along with a history of the house itself. She describes her own family's time living in and restoring the house. The book features photographs typical of books on Wright houses but also includes many personal photographs as well as more intimate pictures of the house when under renovation and in daily use by the family. Hadley of the 7th Indiana Infantry regiment who, with three others, escaped from a Confederate prison and made his way to freedom.
