Lawrence's account of his experiences during the First World War, illustrated throughout. The first trade edition, first impression, following a privately printed edition in 1926. With the line illustrations at pages 304-305 misprinted in the illustrations list as 302-303, as called for.Illustrated with a frontispiece, forty-seven illustrated plates, and four folding maps. Collated, complete.In the publisher's original cloth binding. T. E. Lawrence's fascinating account of his experienced serving as a Colonel in the British Army as a military adviser to Bedouin forces during the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire, from 1916 to 1918. A lovely first edition of this work, which was adapted into the 1962 motion picture 'Lawrence of Arabia'. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally very smart with slight bumping to the extremities. Stain to lower backstrip and the odd mark to boards. Slight strain to rear hinge. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with marginal age toning and the odd spot, heavier to the fore edge. Prior owner's ink inscription to front paste down. Very Good
Synopsis
Seven Pillars of Wisdom is the autobiographical account of the experiences of British soldier T. E. Lawrence ("Lawrence of Arabia"), while serving as a liaison officer with rebel forces during the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Turks of 1916 to 1918.
