First Edition. First Printing (stated). This copy is from the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer [MGM] library, with their rubber stamp on the front endpaper at the bottom center that reads "FILE COPY," and another stamp above it which reads "Metro-Goldwyn Mayer Library, Culver City. There s a tiny date stamp of "Jan 4 71 at the top left of the endpaper. Kept on file by MGM for use in the making of the popular and influential 1971 film starring Richard Roundtree. The film was followed by several sequels, a television series, and a 2000 movie starring Samuel Jackson who plays the nephew of Richard Roundtree s Shaft. A Fine copy in a near-fine unclipped ($4.95) dust jacket.
