Lorsque ce )iagistrat eut sa de meure dans le palais de la Signoria, le palais du Capitano passa la famille Sqnarcz'alupi, qui le cda en 1457 la famille Peccz'. Il appartint en suite la famille des grottanelh, qui le rparrent compltement vers la premire moiti du XIX sie cle, et il est aujourd'hui aux Piccolomini. Le ca ractre distinctif de cet difice est rprsent, com me dans le palais public et le palais Saraczni, par la particularit typique de la pierre, que l'on trouve du sol jusqu' la plus haute ligne des fentres, tandis que les briques ont et employes pour la construction de la partie suprieure et du couron nement. La faade ainsi que la belle cour de ce palais ont un aspect agrable autant que grave.
