An excellent book containing a selection of the popular adventures of Sir Thomas Thumb, the fairy knight who is no bigger than his father's thumb.Tom Thumb is a character of English folklore first published in 1621. It was the first printed fairy tale in English. Illustrated with six lavish and colourful illustrations as well as a frontispiece. Lacking a plate to face page 23 illustrating 'Queen Mab in her carriage.'  In the original publisher's illustrated boards binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Inscribed by a previous owner to the front free endpaper and the front pastedown, dated 1909 and 1934. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with a coloured frontispiece and six coloured plates. Lacking a plate to face page 23, 'Queen Mab in her Carriage.' Very Good Indeed
