Tears between cover and spine about one inch in at top and bottom, but no loss to spine. Early inscription on the front flyleaf. A scarce work.

The earlier edition (1998) was issued in paper but this edition not only expands in size and number of artists but is a well-designed hardcover with a beautiful dust jacket with the cover by Eleanor Himmelfarb.

Dust jacket is significantly creased and wavy along the top of the front cover and also has swirl-marks, faint sunfade, and impressions and wear along the edges. Rear cover has a 1/2 inch tear on the top rear and the plastic is pulled away at the bottom (1-1/2 inch by 3/4 inch). Grey hardcovers are nicked in 4-5 spots along the bottom edge and the book has a loose spine back strip. Hard crease at the center of book. Features full-page color illustrations. No writing or markings. Overall, it is in Very Good Minus (VG-) condition.
