Octavo, third edition (first was 1818), xv, 454, modern maroon cloth rebinding preserving original calf backstrip, gilt-stamped lettering on spine, preliminary leaves browned and brittle, interior very good and sound. See Sabin 23956, Howes F65, Oak Knoll Afro Americana (2nd ed.) 795. "Unflattering picture of the western frontier" (Howes). Fearon's book consists of reports addressed to 39 English families who were considering moving to America. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
