About This Item

New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1924. This is a First Edition, Fourth Printing (designated by "4" in parentheses on Page 109), of Edith Wharton's short novel of New York life during the 1860s, part of her "Old New York" series. It is a very clean copy with only minimal shelf wear. It has deep navy blue covers with pastedown decorative labels on the front panel and spine. The interior features two double-spread endpaper illustrations by renowed artist, Edward C. Caswell. The first blank page has a bookplate by a former owner. The pages themselves are clean, bright and sparkling throughout, with no stains, tears, or other flaws. This book has obviously been well cared for and cherished. The binding is tight and secure. The book measures 5 1/4 by 7 3/4 inches and includes 109 pages. See photo.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good ++/No Jacket. Illus. by Edward C. Caswell. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Chap Book.
