London: William Heinemann Ltd, 1932. First edition. Cloth. Good. 7.5" by 5". None. A first edition, second impression of Graham Greene's first truly successful novel. The first edition, second impression of this novel; containing the name 'Mr Quin Savory' on pages 77, 78, 82, 98 and 131, as opposed to the first printing's 'Q.C. Savory'. Stamboul Train was Greene's second significant novel and first true success. It is set on a train journey from Ostend to Istanbul and was renamed 'Orient Express' when published in the United States. The novel is described as a classic espionage thriller that communicates a sense of unease. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart with a some light marks to the boards and spine. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Rear hinge is a little strained. Light markings to the extremities. 'Book Society' book plate to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean with some light spotting/marks throughout. Good
