Buckley's novel, featuring his Blackford Oakes character. Oakes is a Yale-educated CIA operative, involved in worldwide clandestine operations. With a two-page color illustration by Robert McGinnis, and a preface by Mr. Buckley. With the author's minimalist signature to a front endpaper. An entry in the publisher's Signed First Edition Society series. --- Bound in full black leather covers with elaborate gilt decorations stamped on covers and spine. Titling stamped on spine in gilt, with four raised bands. All edges also in gilt. Attractive faux marbled endpapers, with sewn-in satin ribbon bookmark. Lacks a dust jacket (as issued). --- With a couple of slight scratches to textblock fore-edge gilding, otherwise an about Fine copy.; Octavo - 8 to 9 in. tall; (16), 255 pages; Signed by Author .
