Copyright the Trustees of the British Museum, 2006. The plates in this facsimile edition of "The Surinam Album" have been reproduced by digital photography from the original album in the British Museum, London, and printed at Cambridge University Press on Furioso paper. The album has been hand-bound by Smith Settle, Yeadon, Yorkshire, using Merian Wove toned rag-content paper for the leaves, Nigerian goatskin leather for the spine, and cloth sides foil-blocked with a design by David Eccles based on Plate 38, the hawkmouth. Green leather spine with black title label stamped in gold. Decorative cloth over boards. Book is like new - binding is tight, sturdy, and square. Artwork is unmarked and clean and remains bold and bright. Exterior looks like new. Clamshell case (a.k.a. solander box) has a few small bumps, otherwise also in great condition. Gift quality condition. Book is very large and heavy (weighs about 17 pounds without case; measures about 14 inches across by about 24 inches tall by about 3 inches deep without case). Also includes book of commentary by Julie Harvey (smaller green buckram-bound book), which fits in box along with the book of artwork. This book also in fine condition. Ships from Dinkytown in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Due to the size/weight of this book extra charges may apply for international shipping.
