About This Item

London: Faber and Faber Limited, 1932. First edition. Paperback. Very Good. 7.5" by 5". None. A neat first edition of T. S. Eliot's Sweeney Agonistes, his first attempt at writing a verse drama. First edition. Eliot's first attempt at writing a verse drama, although the piece was never completed. Hence, Fragments of an Aristophanic Melodrama. The scenes are typically performed together as a one-act play. Written by Thomas Stearns Eliot, a poet, essayist, publisher, playwright, literary critic, and editor. Considered one of the 20th century's major poets and a central figure in Modernist poetry. Fragment of Burnt Norton to rear endpaper. In the original blue paper covered board binding. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and the odd mark to the board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the odd spot. Contemporary ink inscription to the front and rear endpapers. Very Good
