London: Frederick Warne and Co, c1912. Hardback. Very Good Indeed. 5.5" by 4". Beatrix Potter. A sought after early edition of this charming Beatrix Potter tale, complete with her colourful original illustrations. An early reprint, with first edition endpapers but no date to the title. 'The Tale of Timmy Tiptoes' follows a squirrel who is believed to be a nut-thief by his fellows, who imprison him in a hollow tree with the hope that we will confess.Beautifully illustrated in colour in Potter's typical style, with a colour frontispiece, and twenty-five colour plates.Collated, complete. In the original publisher's paper covered boards. Externally, smart, with some minor marks to the boards. Very light bumping to the extremities. Front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Small patch of wear to the margins to page 32 and 33. Prior owner's ink inscription to the head of the half-title. Very Good Indeed
Synopsis
2012 marks 110 years since Warne published The Tale of Peter Rabbit . In celebration, we are publishing limited editions of twelve classic tales with colorful covers, special endpapers, and notes explaining the history behind each book. The Tale of Timmy Tiptoes is about poor Timmy Tiptoes who gets temporarily stuck inside a tree.
