An Everyman's Library edition offering satirical essays on a variety of subjects by the famous Jonathan Swift (1667-1745), probably best known for his "Gulliver's Travels." Includes his "The History of Martin," "A Project for the Universal Benefit of Mankind" and several others. Includes an introduction by Lewis Melville. Everyman's Library catalog no. 347. --- In Everyman's Library larger format binding style 5. Full red cloth-look paper-covered boards with titling and "Everyman's Library" gilt-stamped on spine, dolphin-and-anchor device borrowed from Aldine press in gilt at tail of spine. In yellow dust jacket with 'Everyman's Library' surrounded by scrollwork on front panel. --- The book has been exposed to moisture, resulting in dampstains to covers, front endpapers and textblock lower edge (but not on the leaves themselves), else a tightly-bound, bright, sound copy. Price-clipped jacket with pronounced red bleed-off from book cover to area near tail of spine, a few small tears but otherwise an intact copy; wrapped in removable archival mylar protector.; 12mo - 7 to 7-1/2 in. tall; xx, 325, 4 (ads) pages .
