About This Item
London: Walker and Edwards, 1817. Leather. Very Good Indeed. 5" by 3". None. An English translation of this instructional tale from Madame de Genlis. With engraved frontispiece and additional title page. Madame de Genlis was and is best known for her children's works. In Britain, many readers who were sceptical of French philosophy in general, welcomed her books because they presented many of Rousseau's methods while at the same time attacking his principles. Complete in two volumes. Rebound in half-calf bindings with marbled boards. Externally, smart, with only some slight rubbing. Internally, firmly bound. Bookplate to front pastedown. Pages are bright, and generally clean, though with some occasional spotting. Very Good Indeed
