About This Item

"Tales of The Home Folks in Peace and War" by JOEL CHANDLER HARRIS (author of "Uncle Remus"). 1898 1st edition, 1st printing; Houghton, Mifflin and Company; Boston and New York. With a frontispiece and three other full-page illustrated plates. The book is a collection of 12 short stories of the American South in and around the time of the Civil War.

Condition:
Clean front cover with bright gilt lettering; there are a few tiny stain spots near the lower-outer corner of the back cover; the spine has bright gilt lettering and a few thin, light stain lines below the author's name. Tight binding. There is an insignificant crack at the rear hinge between the end paper and pastedown (despite the crack, the back cover is still firmly attached and is not at all shaky). The bibliography page at the front is attached, but has pulled from the spine 3/4 of the way down from the top. The text pages are in nice condition - mostly clean with only a small, light stain spot at the lower-outer corner of 99-103. Overall the book is in Good condition.
