First Edition. Illustrations include a frontispiece, title page vignette engravings, forty-three illustrated plates, and a combination of heading and chapter ending illustrations by the author and Frank E. Phares (1892-1958).This is a work on fishing by Zane Grey, in which the author relates his experiences exploring Canada while fishing swordfish and tuna.Contents include 'Tuna at Avalon, 1919', 'Wolves of the Sea', 'Herculean Angling', and 'The Deadly Airpline-Wire Leader'. Pearl Zane Grey (1872-1939) was an American author and dentist, whose works usually fell under the adventure and western genre. His most popular work, 'Riders of the Purple Sage', becomes a nationwide best seller.With an ink inscription to the front endpaper, which reads 'For John with w----- ---- from Dad. Xmas 1928.'Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Minimal bumping to the extremities and the spine, with light fading and wear to the spine, particularly on the head and tail of spine and the joints. Light offsetting to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean, with light age-toning to margins. Prior owner's ink inscription to verso of front free endpaper. Very Good
