Chicago: A.C. McClurg, 1918. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. J. Allen St. John. 8vo., 350pp.plus 4 pages of ads for the four previously published Tarzan novels. Sharp True First Edition and Printing with Published, April, 1918" and W. F. Hall on the copyright page, (there was a McClurg reprint in 1919). Bound in dark green cloth with titles in gilt on front board and spine. All plates by St. John present. Square, tight and clean throughout with no foxing and very mild toning to page edges. Fairly gentle wear and bumping to spine ends and tips. Small area of discoloration on top of front board. Spine letters perhaps a touch dulled. Lacking scarce dust-jacket. A very handsome collectable copy of the fifth Tarzan novel and at a great price. (Zeuschner #598 p.158-9).
