The Macmillan Company, New York, 1960. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Very Good. Illustrator: Peter Revitt. Foreword by Dame Ninette de Valois, introduction by author, acknowledgements, bibliography, index of technical terms and index of ballets. Black and white illustrated frontispiece and all of the drawings within the text have been created by Peter Revitt. Bottle green coloured cloth covered boards with silver coloured titles to the back strip. Illustrated dustwrapper, again by Peter Revitt, with black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. In this book, for the first time, the author has attempted " ... to record the principles common to the French, Russian, Italian and other schools of dance, and particularly as they have been discussed and understood at the Royal Ballet School under its leader Dame Ninette de Valois." – from front fold over panel blurb. Rubbing of the book edges and a little too the book corners. Very light age toning of the text block edges and pages. Some chipping to the top dustwrapper corners with rubbing of the edges and of the panels. Some marks are also present to the dustwrapper. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall. [5], VI - VIII, 167, [1] pages,.
