About This Item

Tensas Parish, Louisiana is in the northeast part of the state on the Mississippi River. At one time it was the richest of the cotton producing parishes. The book follows the mound builder Indians, the settlers, the cotton plantations, the Civil War and Reconstruction. With all that there's the Mississippi River, always overflowing and shaping the terrain. This book has it all, over 150 illustrations including archival photos of people and places, maps, plots and handwritten wills. A great book. I can't believe this hasn't been republished. Author Fontenot is a Louisiana writer with 15 books to her credit. Ziegler is a resident of Tensas Parish, who promised her mother she would put the book together. The book is in fine, like new condition. Both authors have signed on the Tensas Story bookplate on the inside front cover. This copy is #957 of 1500 copies printed.

About mark mcdonald

Book collector for over 30 years. I'm retired and ready to sell. I buy almost exclusively from estate sales and since I've lived in Dallas my whole life, I know the people and where to go. I am a low volume collector and seller and deal in higher quality books. I have a lot of signed and inscribed books. These signatures have not been officially authenticated, but I am confident in their authenticity so I will guarantee them in perpetuity if it can be reasonably demonstrated that the signature is incorrect. .
