London: Chatto & Windus. G. 1950. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Stated first edition bound in red cloth with a white and gold title la bel on the spine. A Good copy in a Poor dust jacket. The book's covers show a faint stain near the front gutter and top edge of the rear boa rd. The interior is clean, tight, and unmarked. The dust jacket has a large chip to the front panel's bottom edge which affects the letterin g of the author's last name. Chips and frays to the jacket's corners a nd along the head and heel of the spine. The spine is faded. Rear pane l is dust soiled and chipped at its upper and lower edges. The jacket' s verso has red markings from the dampening to the book's spine and sp ine seams. .
