Stiff paper boards with pastedown covers and dark brown leatherette spine, 8vo, 124 pp. Includes music basics, practical suggestions (eg. don't sleep with heat that's pumped up from the cellar), folk songs, rounds, The Star Spangled Banner, and hymns. "Bang She Goes" instructs students when to pound on their desks. G: covers scuffed and edges worn, spine worn with mesh showing at ends, hinges weak with staples rusted through cloth, light scratch or mark on ffep otherwise unmarked, clean, last 28 pp yellowed but readable, last couple pp minor chipping.

The original set was 30 volumes. A limited edition was leather-bound; the rest were bound in burgundy cloth.
This is five of the volumes of that set.
All are plain, with bright gilt printing on the side panels. Each book is 6" x 8".

Rare original poetry book with cloth covered boards, copyright 1880 by J. W. Shoemaker & Co. This edition published in 1906 by the Penn Publishing company, Philadelphia. From the estate of my great-great grandfather.Includes many unique poems and recitations such as "To a skull", "Uncle Daniel's Introduction to a Mississippi Steamer", "The Leak in the Dyke", etc. More well-known poetry includes "Song of Birds", "Old Ironsides", and "Bannock Burn" by Robbie Burns. Light rubbing and bumps to outside spine edges. Back cover and interior cloth covered board has a stain at top. Original owner's name and address from 1908, but no other writing or marks. First 2 pages have a stain at top, but text of 192 pages of poetry and recitations is totally clean with light tanning of pages.
