An extensive and richly illustrated history of the horse, in its first edition with colour plates. A first edition copy of this comprehensive volume on horseracing stock. This volume explores the authentic origin of pure blood thoroughbred racing stock. The history of the horse is scattered amongst various documents and records and is a complex ground of geography, history, and science. This volume is a monumental attempt to collect all the true facts of the history of the thoroughbred horse.  Lady Wentworth was a British peer, Arabian horse breeder and real tennis player.Extensively illustrated with twenty one plates in colour and a further 388 plate in half tone and many diagrams in the text and a folding map of Arabia to the rear. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally excellent with some fading to the spine and light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. With a bookplate and previous owner inscription to the front free endpaper for Renee S. Olivier, dated 1942. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Very Good Indeed
