About the author

Marlene Royle is a regular columnist for Rowing News magazine and a sculling coach at the Florida Rowing Center. Royle's competitive career started in 1977, major achievements include a U.S. collegiate national rowing championship, a U.S. national sculling title, a Head of the Charles victory, and two world indoor rowing records. From 1986 until 2006, Royle instructed at the Craftsbury Sculling Center. Marlene founded Roylerow Performance Training Programs in 1999 to train athletes individually, designing their workouts, and providing e-mail support. Roylerow.com was the first online coaching service for rowers. Marlene has a degree in occupational therapy from Boston University. Boston University crew honors include the Beverly Jean Cook Award and 1985 varsity captain, from West Side Rowing Club, the Melissa Hale Spencer Award. Other book publications include, Skillful Rowing.
