About This Item

London: Chapman & Hall, Ltd., 1923. First edition. Cloth. Very Good. 9" by 6". None. A first edition of Douglas' autobiographical work describing the Alps of Austria where he grew up. This is an autobiographical work describing the author's homeland in the Austrian Alps.George Norman Douglas (1868-1952) was a British writer, remembered for his travelogues in particular. His most famous work was the novel 'South Wind', which tells a fictionalised account of island life in Capri, where he lived for many years. His travel writing mostly focused upon Capri and its surroundings; he also penned a number of autobiographies. A first edition. With a number of full plate illustrations. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with some loss to the cloth at the head of the spine, and some bumping to extremities and the head and tail of the spine; a few marks to the boards. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages have the occasional instance of spotting more noticeable in early leaves, but are generally bright and clean otherwise. Very Good
