Illustrated with coloured frontispiece as well as twenty-six further black and white plates including reproductions of excellent portraits of the Tradescant family by Wenceslaus Hollar. Collated, complete/ Study of the work John Tradescant and his son, royal gardeners in the times of Charles I and Charles II. The Tradescants were one of the first botanists to collect specimens of plants, bringing to England its first lilac as well as hundred of the flowers and trees that we know in our gardens today. Written by Mea Allan, journalist of the twentieth century. Complete with unclipped dust wrapper. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely. Dust wrapper unclipped and excellent. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Fine
