Engraved frontispiece of Gautier, and twenty-six engraved fold-out plates. First edition published 1721 -- considered a standard reference work on bridge building this copy from the collection of Professor George F. Swain, Harvard University who left his library to his assistant, Albert Haertlein, Gordon McKay Professor of Civil Engineering, Harvard Graduate School of Engineering [note to this laid-in]. BRUNET Vol.VI, p.527 [8834]. Tight, clean and fresh copy; text and plates, minor extremity rubbing, with bookplate of George Fillmore Swain.
