Small round bookstore sticker pasted on front endpapers from a Sacramento department store ("Ask Weinstock-Lubin for the books you want") , lacking the dust jacket. . 2nd printing. Collects a series of brief sketches on people and places - ranging from the English countryside to the Argentinian pampas. A naturalist and ornithologist as well as an author, Hudson was born in Argentina to parents who had immigrated there from New England, but he moved to England, married and became a citizen there. Although he is best known for his classic novel "Green Mansions, " his other works have their charm and interest also. 339 pp.
