Martha Gurney , Bookseller , Holborn-Hill, 1796. Hardcover. Very Good. Original leather binding . Taken in "short-hand" by Gurney who had been assigned as counsel to Crossfield. Crossfield was charged with an attempt to kill King George III. The trial was conducted at the Sessions House of Old Bailey on May 11-12 , 1796. Many of the key public issues of the day for England are explored in this fasinating trial. And Gurney's account seems to be a full one. Crossfield was found "not guilty" after a trial that was remarkable in English history. There are some marks in the text and the margins . All text is present and readable. Orignal leather binding is in very good condition . Overall , remarkably preserved volume. Bookplate of Sir James MacIntosh on inside front board.
