The Trumpeter of Krakow is a young adult historical novel by Eric P Kelly, first published in 1928 by Macmillan. It won the Newbery Medal for Excellence in 1929. The story takes place in historic Poland in the Middle Ages and centers around a secret family treasure, reported to have mystical powers, and a young boy inspired to protect his family by the story of a the trumpeter of Krakow who warned the city of invasion by the Tartars at the cost of his own life.
