First editions of Glen Baxter's amusingly captioned illustrations. Baxter's artwork employs images inspired by pulp fiction and adventure comics, and often feature cowboys, gangsters, explorers and schoolchildren, captioned with incongruous statements, intellectual jokes, and contemporary references. The Leeds-born draughtsman and artist was a teacher at the Victoria and Albert Museum between 1967 and 1974, and has had works printed in The New Yorker and Vanity Fair. In the publisher's original pictorial hardback binding. Externally, lovely. Internally, firmly bound, with bright and clean pages throughout. Fine

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
