Elinizdeki çalışma da eserin İngilizcesinden Türkçeye tercüme edilmiş hâlidir. Cahen, Selçuklu ve Moğol dönemleri şeklinde iki ana bölüme ayırarak kaleme aldığı eserinde 11. yüzyıldan yaklaşık 14. yüzyılın ortalarına kadar Anadolu'daki Selçuklu, Beylikler ve Moğol hâkimiyetinin siyasî, askerî, idarî, sosyal, kültürel, ekonomik ve dinî boyutları üzerinde durmaktadır. Çalışma, Bizans Anadolusu'nun "Türkiye"ye dönüşme serüvenine tüm boyutlarıyla ışık tutmaktadır. Ana kaynaklarla modern araştırmalara dayanılarak hazırlanan bu mühim eser, Selçuklu, Beylikler ve Moğol tarihi yani kısaca Anadolu'nun Osmanlı öncesi Türk tarihi araştırmalarında her daim başvurulacak bir el kitabı hüviyetindedir.
