First edition; presumed first printing. From the next to the bottom line of the title page, "Engraved by Thomas Piroli, From the Drawings in Pofsefssion [sic] of Thomas Hope, Esq. 1793" The last line lists the publisher/ printer and the date of printing as May 1, 1807. Pages are not numbered. We counted approximately 115 pages containing individual engravings. There is noticeable foxing on the first three pages and last four pages (including first and last fly leaf pages).. Remaining pages are clear or with light faxing. However the images on all these pages seem predominately clear of foxing. Pages are clear, without tears or marks. Plates are in very good condition over all. Both covers have been separated from the binding/ also first three pages and last four, each section bound together, have separated from the binding (separated as two separated sections). Cover over the spine has largely worn away, although binding is tight (excepting the two sections that are loose). Pencil…

Description:
New Haven and New York: Yale University Press and the Jewish Museum, 2004. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover in Dust Jacket. Fine/Fine. Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920) is one of the greatest - and most misunderstood - artists of the twentieth century. His incisive portraits, erotically charged nudes, beautiful drawings, and primitivistic sculpture have been admired for decades. Modigliani's work, however, has typically been examined in the limited context of his so-called bohemian, anti-intellectual lifestyle. This groundbreaking book revises this approach toward Modigliani's art, presenting a convincing revisionist examination of the unique historical, social, religious, and cultural significance of his oeuvre. No Flaws or Blemishes but minimal shelf handling; Still Gift Quality. Dust Jacket with price is in a new clear protective Mylar sleeve..
