Symmetric spotting on inside, p.2, not affecting text or signature, some bleed through to front, otherwise VG.

Jean Faircloth MacArthur (1898 -2000) was the wife of General of the Army, Douglas MacArthur and mother to his only child, Douglas IV. On April 11, 1951 President Truman relieved MacArthur of command of the Korean War. His trip home was his first to the U.S. in 14 years. Though it was precipitated by a humiliating firing, he received a ticktertape parade and grand adulation across the country. The General and Jean lived out their days at the Waldorf Towers.

Addressed to Anna Murfin, wife of 4-star Admiral Orin Murfin. Murfin was the Navy Judge Advocate General from 1931 - 34, the search for Amelia Earhart was led under his command and he was the President of the Navy Court of Inquiry following the attack on Pearl Harbor. "My General and Arthur and I are all well and now settling down somewhat to living here in New York and thoroughly enjoying it. All the best wishes in the world to you and the Admiral in which the General joins me. Devotedly, /s/ Jean
