London: Ernest Benn, 1963 4to (31.5 cm), XIII, 99 pp, 377 illustrations on unnumbered plates. Publisher's cloth. Reproduced 378 title and text pages drawn from presses working in the European tradition. An introductory essay by Stanley Morison. "The Typographic Book" was designed to supersede published in 1924 "Four Centuries of Fine Printing". By way of introduction, the author revised original text, in which he incorporated an essay, re-written from "Modern Fine Printing" (1925). The number of plates of the modern period has been extended by Kenneth Day.
