Square octavo (7-3/4" x 9-1/2") bound in rough cloth stamped with a design by the illustrator, Seong Moy, who has contributed several full-page and numerous smaller woodcuts in cherry wood on the flat side (with the grain). Copy #1087 of 1500 SIGNED by the artist on the colophon page. Monthly Letter laid in.

Synopsis

The dialect, lore, and flavor of black life in the nineteenth-century South is portrayed as it appeared to Georgia-born Joel Chandler Harris in Uncle Remus’s "Legends of the Old Plantation."
