About This Item
Boston: John P. Jewett & Company, 1852. First Edition, First Printing. First edition, first printings of both volumes with no later printings present on the title pages, and with Hobart & Robbins present on the copyright pages. These volumes measure approximately 7.75" x 5", with 312 and 322 numbered pages respectively.
The books are in good antiquarian condition. Wear and soiling to the covers and spines, with moisture stains to the spine of Volume I. Previous owner's inscriptions on front endpapers. Minor scattered foxing throughout the textblocks.
A married set, but both in the original brown cloth binding and in similar condition. Volume II is an historic, and possibly unique copy as it is dated and inscribed on the publication date of the book, March 20th 1852. This is obviously the earliest dated inscription possible for Uncle Tom's Cabin, and makes this copy particularly desirable. Three signatures that were previously missing were replaced from another copy of the same publication, making the text complete.
Please view the many other rare titles available for purchase at our store. We are always interested in purchasing individual or collections of fine books.
