A first edition, with colour plate frontispiece to each volume, and numerous further colour and black and white plates. The colourful plates of these volumes are the work of Stanley Inchbold, a relation of the author, known for his town and landscape paintings. The author of this work, A. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumped to extremities and spine heads and tails. Light marks to boards. Front hinges of both volumes tender but firm. Rear hinge of volume II reinforced with tape. Rear hinge of volume I tender but firm. Book club label to rear pastedown of both volumes. Internally, firmly bound. Scattered foxing throughout, as is common to this work. Very Good
