London: Published for London's Underground by Oldham's Press Ltd, 1924.. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (21.5 x 14 cm). pp.158+[2]. Original pictorial card wrappers printed in blue, red, and green. Nineteen maps including the often-removed folding map (36.5 x 45 cm) tucked into inside pocket, five photographs, and a series of street drawings. Some light rubbing, generally a very good copy. This guidebook to London was issued by the Underground Electric Railways. The front cover illustration shows the bottom of Nelson's column in Trafalgar Square, with a view to Whitehall and Big Ben. The guidebook provides information on public buildings, parks, gardens and the riverside in London. It contains maps and photos as well as a pictorial bus route, as seen from the top of a bus. It was designed by Verney L Danvers, a commercial artist who also created a number of posters for London County Council Tramways, the London North Eastern Railway, the Southern Railway, and London Transport.
