London: Henry Colburn, 1843. Book. Good-. Hardcover. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. A bound copy of Issue No. 170, Jan., 1843 of The United Service Magazine, minus its frontismatter, but including several original signed letters regarding the death of Lieut.-General Sir John Waters, whose obituary appears on pp.95-99. On the ffep is an Epitaph to Waters, hand-written and signed by Vane Londonderry, Adjutant General of the Peninsula Army, dated 2 December, 1842. . A 4-page handwritten letter, dated November 24, 1842 also signed by Londonderry, is tipped onto the ffep. A 6p hand-written letter, signed by Edmond Chester Waters, is tipped onto an inside page. In addition, a number of notes/corrections to Waters' obituary appear on p97, apparently in the handwriting of Vane Londonderry. Tipped onto the fep is a hand-written 4p letter addressed to Colonel Wood and signed by Anthony Bambrief (?), a cousin of Waters, written on the day of Waters' death. Other articles in this issue include: Naval Improvements of the Nineteenth Century; Letters from Dusseldorf and Bonn During the Late Prussian Reviews; With A Glance At San Domingo; etc., etc. A very interesting association piece. Bound in dark blue cloth, with gilt spine title "Lt. Genl. Sir John Waters" in gilt; extremes of covers are worn to the boards, with some loss of cloth to the ends of the spine, and the front hinge is broken, but this is otherwise a clean complete copy..

Trumansburg, NY: Out of Step Press. Fine with no dust jacket. 2016. Numbered Edition; First Printing. Pamphlet. The author's non-linear poem about the billeting of soldiers in civilian homes in wartime. Copy 89 of a limited edition of 250. Folded into the form of a letter, the work was letterpress printed in wraps of handmade "combat paper" made from military uniforms. The author says: "Some time ago-maybe a year, maybe two? I had a conversation with some of my Combat Paper brothers (well, the kids call them their combat paper uncles, so it follows
