San Francisco: Sierra Club Books, 1977. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 228pp. Small quarto [25.5 cm] Navy blue cloth with a white ink stamped title on the spine, and an embossed title on the front cover. Extremities very lightly rubbed; top fore-edge corner of the front board just a little bumped; bookseller's ticket on the rear pastedown. In the dust jacket with light soiling to the front panel and spine, and a bit more soiling to the rear panel. There are several small chips to the top edge of the jacket. The Unsettling of America is Berry's personal and dramatic study of the way in which we use the land that helps us survive. Edward Abbey is quoted as saying, "Wendell Berry is our contemporary Isaiah, and in The Unsettling of America he brings together in clear, forceful terms all the doubts and questions that many have been raising for years.
