Review summary
Until Shadows Fall is the book Comanche Captives or Two Rode Together--the movie title--along with an hundred additional pages from which I suspect sections were used to form another short novel printed under another title--The Tough Texan. This book is divided in to two parts--Part 1 1874; Part 2 1880. Again Lieutenant Jim Gary is sent to over see the return of the "captives" many of whom have lived so long with the Indians they do not want to return to "civilization". And once again Gary must try to see that the peace is kept and war does not break out. The other protagonist is Guthrie McCabe and he and Gary butt heads at nearly every turn of the trail. If you have never seen the movie starring James Stewart and Richard Widmark I urge you to do so, and the book is even better than the movie.
