About This Item
Washington, D.C.: GPO Magazine. Very Good. Soft cover. pp181-191, illustrated with diagrams. Removed from ANNUAL REPORT OF THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION FOR THE YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 1934. VG. In plastic report covers. From the report: "To the navigator who is familiar with the Seven Seas, however, this much oversimplifies the subject. [The explanation of how the moon affects the tides.] For he finds that the tides at different places vary not only in time and in range, but also in character of rise and fall. Quite apart from differences in time and in range which may be regarded as merely differences in degree, it is found that tides present striking differences in kind. There is, in fact, an almost bewildering variety in tides.".
