Grove Press, 1955. Soft cover. Good. 305 pages, with pronunciation guide to names of the characters in the novel. E-27 - an early book in Grove's Evergreen Books series. In Turgenev's last novel, published 1877, the protagonists are Russian revolutionary populists. Trade paperback, creases to spine and corners, shelf wear, rubbing along spine, front cover slightly separated but anchored with tape, soil to back cover, a few pages slightly accidentally dog-eared, edges age-toned, 1-1/2" water stain to back wrap extends to fore-edge. (Is a flyleaf missing? There's no sign of a remnant, but book opens directly to title page.) Marginal note in pencil observed on one page.
