Collins, London 1987. 30.0 x 23.0cms, 224pp, duotone illusts, very good+ hardback & dustwrapper (tape stained endpapers) Thesiger, the renowned traveller and tavel writer, took these photographs of his beloved nomadic peoples in the Empty Quarter, the Marches (Iraq). Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nuristan, Ethiopia etc between the 1930s and 1970s. This book has three sections: Africa; the Arab world; Asia. He writes;'I have never taken a photograph in Europe, nor photographed a European. It has never occurred to me to do so'.
