About This Item

London: Severn House, 1980. Cloth. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8" by 5.5". None. A well presented copy of the first British hardcover edition of this science fiction work by John Wyndham. This is the first British hardcover edition, by Severn House publishing. The first edition of the work published together was in Coronet Books in 1973. This work is in original publisher's maroon cloth binding with original unclipped dust wrapper. John Wyndham was an English writer of science fiction whose novels were often set in classical English surroundings, to imply that the plots were plausible and could happen at any point in our society. This particular work is a collection of five science fiction short stories by John Wyndham. These stories were originally published in magazines in the 1930's, under the pseudonym John Beyon. This work includes Wanderers of Time, Derelict of Space, Child of Power, The Last Lunarians and The Puff-Ball Menace. Also included in the work is an introduction entitled Before the Triffids, by Walter Gillings, a UK editor and journalist specialising in science fiction since the 1930s. In publisher's original cloth binding with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally excellent, with minor shelf wear. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Dust wrapper in excellent condition, with light shelf wear and the occasional handing mark. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Near Fine
