Texts illustrated with black and white contemporary photographs. Black coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the spine. Minor scuffing to the book corners and shelf wear is evident to the bottom edges of the book. Bumping to the top spine edge and browning to the paper edges. Gift inscription on the free front endpaper. Illustrated dustwrapper, showing soldiers advancing with a pen jutting towards the title, with white coloured background and black, red and yellow coloured titles to the front pane and red and black coloured titles to the back strip. White background has become grubby and the edges are rubbed. Minor wrinkling to the top and bottom dust wrapper edges. Pat Burgess, himself a War Correspondent takes a look at how Australian reporters came to their pre-eminence, quoting extensively from their reports often filed in the heat of battle.
