Macmillan, 1928. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1928. No Edition Remarks. 221 pages. No dust jacket. Red cloth with black and white illustrated plates throughout. Minor tanning to pages with heavier tanning to pastedowns and endpapers. Pencil inscriptions to front endpaper and moderate tanning to text block edges. Both hinges are cracked with exposed netting and cracks to guttering with exposed netting. Book is shaky. Boards have visible rubbing and heavier bumping to corners. Fair crushing to spine ends and major sunning to spine.
Synopsis
Considered Robert Louis Stevenson's masterpiece, and left unfinished at the time of his death, this novel conveys in theme, style, and tone the power of Stevenson's creative originality. It is set in Edinburgh at the end of the 18th century and reflects the author's fascination with the relationship between father and son and his preoccupation with the battle between good and evil within every man.
