About This Item

San Francisco: The Whitaker and Ray Co., 1904. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Very Good. See description. West Coast Shells, by Josiah Keep. 1904 true First Edition. Rare. San Francisco: The Whitaker and Ray Co., 1904. Tall 12mo (7 5/8"), green cloth with gilt cover and spine imprinting, 360 pp. Very Good; corners touched, title page signature loose, page edges darkened, early owner's signature on front pastedown (see scan). One of Josiah Keep's several much-admired works on seashell collecting, replete with his black and white drawings and, of course, his extraordinarily scholarly text. Easy to find as a modern reprint - but this 1904 true first edition is in very, very scarce. For the genre specialist collector. Ships in stout protection, of course. T17
